**The entire Vampire Apocalypse series has recently been re-edited, undergone partial rewrites, and has been completely repackaged by Permuted Press, all new in 2014!**

In a desolate world where communications have ceased . . . where the global oil supply is quickly dwindling, vampires rise to rule the Earth.

In this new era of blood and depravity, you are either a slave to the dark masters or dinner . . . either a breeding vessel or a rebel.

Charismatic leader, Peter Harris is the latter. Join him and his band of comrades as they fight to take back and then rebuild a world torn asunder . . .

Vampire Apocalypse A World Torn Asunder Vampire Apocalypse Book 1 eBook Derek Gunn

The story is interesting, if you can make sense of it despite the formatting. The story has multiple characters and we jump between their point of views. We also jump back in time before the apocalypse. Not normally a big deal - except that there is nothing to separate these sections.

You're reading a section with Harris and in the next paragraph, you're with Nero. There's nothing to separate the change of venue. Normally, an author uses chapters to switch characters, a line or an extra paragraph space. Not in this book - not my copy, anyway. And the time change.. what a mess - extremely confusing. There was a part where Harris goes back in his memories. It took me a few sentences to realize what happened. And then when we're brought back to the present - again, no separator. This lack of formatting removes any smoothness in the reading.. it's like driving on a bumpy road.

There is a lot of military description - weaponry, tactics. If you aren't interested in it, you can skim it. The story itself, the world it's in is interesting on its own, as are the characters. The battle at the end captured my imagination - by then, I was used to the character changing lack of format and adapted a little better.

Vampire Apocalypse A World Torn Asunder Vampire Apocalypse Book 1 eBook Derek Gunn Reviews

This book keeps you on the edge of your from the beginning to the end. One of the best vampire novels I have read in a very long time.
I like to give lesser-known writers an opportunity because there are plenty of talented people out there. Derek Gunn is not a bad writer, but this book suffers from lack of editing. Grammatical errors increased as I read this book to a point where it became an annoyance. I could not finish this book. I think that with some devotion to character development and some more thorough editing the author could be a decent writer.
I'm really trying to get through this book but I'm having a hard time staying connected to it. It's really slow and I'm only on chapter 10, it goes back into the past then to this character who I can't even remember who this person is. I have had this for a year now but I think I should just give up.
It took me awhile to get around to reading this book, but I enjoyed it enough to buy the next two in the series. It was a different take on most vampire stories I have read, but I thought the author did a pretty good job. The book did have some grammatical errors, but the story overcame those minor issues. I downloaded the book when it was free, so at that price it was definitely worth a try. However, it is worth the low price the author is charging now.
This is one of those vampire stories I keep hoping to find when I'm searching for one. A story where the vampires are the monsters they're supposed to be and not some glittering love struck teenagers running around with their hearts out on their sleeves. I really like this type of story where the good guys are on the losing end yet they never give up. I would highly recommend this story and the sequels that go with it. Read them, you won't be disappointed.
I read this book all the way through hoping it would get better. For me personally it never happened. While I love a good Vampire story I never could really figure out the gist of this one. There was so much left hanging that it didn't make sense to me. Yes I love a good cliff hanger story as much as the next person, but give me something to want to come back to read the next installment. Again for me this didn't happen. I've ignored all the grammatical errors in this book, as sometimes that happens when you convert paper to digital, and graded it on it's appeal to me. Someone else may come along an think it's the best thing around. YOu'll have to decide for yourself if you choose to read it.
If you're a fan of vampires who gruesome and insidious, then this book is for you. The characters are well crafted and likable. I enjoyed the main character, Harris, who was new at the whole, leading the resistance thing. The storyline moved fast, which I enjoy, and just enough of Harris' background was given to know he had baggage to carry. But, it didn't dwell on so long that you lost your place in the story. I also really enjoyed the turn of events at the end with the introduction of new characters, I won't say much not to spoil anything, but there were some change of hearts I was glad to see. All in all a good book, very entertaining and you'll find yourself loving the vampires, although they're nasty.
